NDLEA arrests fake cops with 658kg cannabis in Edo

The Edo State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two suspects with 50 bags of dried weeds suspected to be cannabis weighing 685kg.

The state NDLEA commander, Buba Wakawa, said the suspects, Matthew Enumba, 51 and Ojukwu Henry Ofor, 36, who specialised in smuggling cannabis from the South-South to North-West region of the country, were caught following the interception of their Toyota Hiace vehicle along Okpella-Okene road.

He said the suspects operated under the fake cover of being operatives of the Nigerian Police Force with a black bus and a siren as well as police stickers on it to deceive unsuspecting members of the public and security agents.

One of the suspects, Matthew Enumba said, “We are not officers but we have been properly trained on how to act as officers without our identity being uncovered.”
