Surveyor In Court For Alleged N8.2m Land Fraud


A 32-year-old surveyor, Oluwadamilare Mustapha, has been arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding a man of N8.2million.

Mustapha, who lives at 46, Kokorabu Street, Ikorodu, Lagos State, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

Prosecutor Victor Eruada alleged that Mustapha committed the offences between January and June 2014 in Ikorodu.

He alleged that Mustapha obtained N8.2 million from the complainant, Mr. Ajibade Adesanya, on the pretext of assisting him to acquire 23 plots of land in Ijede, Ikorodu.

“Mustapha collected N8.2 million from the complainant on the pretext of selling the land to him, which he never did,” the prosecutor said.

He said when the complainant demanded a refund, Mustapha failed to refund the money.

The offences contravene sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

Mustapha denied committing the offences.

Magistrate Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni granted him bail at N1million with two sureties and adjourned the case till November 20 for the mention
