Victoria Beckham confirms she will 'absolutely' be going to watch the Spice Girls tour next summer

Victoria Beckham has insisted that she will 'absolutely' be attending next summer's Spice Girls reunion tour, despite deciding not to perform in it.

The singer-turned-fashionista, 44, spoke to Extra before accepting her People's Choice Award on Sunday evening, where she was asked point blank why she isn't taking part with her fellow band mates.

'I have so much going on with my business and my family,' Victoria explained. 'I think the girls are going to do a great job!'

Victoria went on to insist she will be attending one of the dates - which keep being added to thanks to popular demand from the fans.

'Absolutely! I am very, very excited for them!' she said. 'They have great things planned, and I am looking forward to it.'
Victoria has shown enthusiasm for some form of a reunion since back in February, when she congregated with Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner at Geri's home, for a meeting about plans.

She was the first of the fivesome to upload a shot of the five of them to Instagram, captioning it: 'Exciting!'

Fans believed, therefore, that whatever was in the pipeline would involve her - only to learn last Monday that the band are indeed reforming, but without Posh.

Victoria has retained a dignified silence in the week that has followed, but the other girls - who have since appeared in interviews on the likes of Heart FM, Lorraine and The Jonathan Ross Show - have insisted things are friendly between them and Victoria is supporting the reunion from the sidelines.

Mel B, however, has repeatedly expressed how hopeful she is that the band's days as a quintet are not over.

She said on Lorraine on Monday: 'I'm hopeful we'll get back together, I want to tour America too! It will work at some point!'

Geri said: 'The five of us have always had this thing, we support each other on and off stage. We did speak to her and meet up with her and we said, "Look, you’re in the band on and off the stage, it doesn’t matter".'
'The thing is, we’re very proud of Victoria. She works incredibly hard and what she’s achieved is amazing. She will always be a Spice Girl, as we will and always have been.' added Mel C.

Victoria - who, this year, celebrated the 10 year birthday of her eponymous fashion label - won the Fashion Icon gong at the People's Choice Awards on Sunday.

She said of this: I love what I do, and it started with girl power all those years ago and now it’s the same message but it's empowering women through fashion.

'What I love to do is make women feel like the best version of themselves, so to get an award for something I really love doing is very exciting.'

She even made a nod to the band that made her famous on stage at the event in Los Angeles.

'I always told myself, "Dream big and then dream even bigger!" And I wanted to show that if I can do it, anyone can do it. And what you can achieve really can be limitless if... I can't help it — if you really, really want it, okay?' she said, referencing the band's first ever hit, Wannabe, which was released in 1996, selling 7 million copies.

This prompted a cheer from the audience.
She continued: 'So many years ago, I started with girl power, and now that message is just as strong as ever but now it's through the privilege of being able to empower women through my designs.'

While fans were delighted by her Spice Girls nods, Victoria had earlier made it clear her singing days are long behind her: 'I do apologize for reading off of cards, but I hung up my microphone some time ago, and I get a little scared when I get on stage and I see a mic!'

Elsewhere in the speech, she thanked her husband David and their four children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.

The other Spice Girls - all mothers also - have acknowledged their own children in the past week, while promoting the comeback.

Mel B also spoke of her eldest daughter, Phoenix, who was born when the Spice Girls were in the latter years of their heyday.
'Phoenix says, "you're so cool because you lot are vintage." I'll go with that, I like that!' Mel said. 'I'm forcing all of my kids to come on the road with us.'

'Me too!' Emma agreed.

Mel C added: 'I can't believe this moment has come. We like to keep [the fans] guessing.'

Indeed, the reunion has been on the cards ever since the group reformed for the Olympics closing ceremony in 2012, at which all five of them performed.

Since then - especially over the past 10 months - there have been rumours that a tour was set to happen.
'Thanks for your patience, we have got good fans!' Geri said.

'There's an electric Spice chemistry, my husband says when we come in the room its like you get a punch in your face,' Emma explained.

'We really love each other!' Geri said. 'Girl power becomes people power. It's all about equality. Last year was very dark with #metoo, but it had to happen for people to be able to heal. Now we can move onto the light.

'There's a lot of female charities who don't get a lot of funding, so we created a new power-up campaign which helps organisations. We want to give women a voice!'
