PDP cautions INEC against declaration of false result in Delta

Delta State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against declaration of false result for the National Assembly for Isoko Federal constituency.

Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Leo Ogor, is flying the flag of PDP while a former chairman of the state’s board of internal revenue, Joel Onowakpor, is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

The PDP, in a statement in Asaba, yesterday, alleged that the high command of the APC had already directed INEC to do everything possible to return its candidate as winner of Saturday’s election in the constituency.

PDP Publicity Secretary, Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, who issued the statement, alleged that his party “received shocking and impeccable information of a martial directive from the high command of the APC to INEC, to do everything possible, both legitimate and illegitimate, legal and illegal, covert and dubious, crooked and manipulative, to ensure it deliver victory to the APC candidate for Isoko federal constituency, at all costs.”

But, in a swift reaction, spokesman of APC campaign council for the 2019 general election, Cairo Ojougboh, dismissed PDP’s allegations and said the opposition party was crying foul when it knew it has already lost the election for fielding a candidate who is not the choice of Isoko people.

Ojougboh said: “Leo Ogor was my colleague in the House of Representatives, and, of course, we thank God for him. You know physically he has not been very strong, and the Isoko people have said they need somebody who is sound physically, mentally and otherwise.
