A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Tuesday remanded a 42-year-old security guard, Luka Ibrahim, in prison for stealing properties valued at N2.5 million.

Ibrahim, who resides at Idu by Industrial Area, Karmo, had pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

The Judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, ordered his remand and adjourned the case till March 4 for facts, complete investigation and judgement.

The Prosecutor, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, had earlier told the court that the matter was reported at the Karmo Police Station on Feb. 3 by one Ike Ogochukwu of Lokogoma Estate, Abuja.

Ukagha said that the defendant worked as security guard at the company, Nemmaco Nigeria Limited, located at Idu Industrial Area.

He said that while the defendant was employed as the security guard, that he criminally broke into the company and stole air conditioners and vehicle parts.

That Ibrahim also stole building materials, refrigerator and some office equipment, all valued at N2.5 million.

The prosecutor said that Ibrahim pleaded guilty to the offence during police investigation when he said he had sold the properties.

According to the prosecutor, “it was also revealed that he has been stealing from the company for long.

“The offence contravened Section 289 of the Penal Code,’’ she said.
