Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian take Olympia to DisneyLand

Raised as a Jehovah's Witness, Serena Williams does not celebrate birthdays.

However that doesn't mean her one-year-old daughter Olympia misses out, with the doting mother ensuring she simply gets to enjoy special days at regular intervals.

And on Tuesday, the toddler was introduced to The Happiest Place On Earth, as tennis superstar Serena and her husband Alexis Ohanian took Olympia to DisneyLand in California.
The happy family, joined by a small group of friends, rode many of the parks rides in Fantasyland, with a Disney VIP giude on hand to show them around.

They took a ride on the Storybook Land Canal Boats, with a giggling Olympia seated on her Reddit co-founder father's lap.

They were also seen enjoying the Small World boat ride as well as the Peter Pan ride.
And lucky Olympia was gifted a purple Mickey Mouse balloon which was tied to her stroller.

Serena, 37, wore her hair tied back in a bun, a pair of pale pink mouse ears atop her head.

The group also visited the neighboring California Adventure, where they were seen having lunch at the Lamplight Lounge.
Serena has proved herself a doting mother to her only child, but has been open about the struggles of life as a working mother.

Celebrating International Women's Day last week, Serena penned an emotional essay for Fortune.

She was particularly honest about the guilt of being a working mom.
The athlete admitted: 'When I was getting back into training last year, I needed a lot of physical recovery. But not only was the work taxing on my healing body, it was emotionally draining too.

'I felt overwhelming guilt whenever I wanted to take 'me' time, with the nagging feeling that any extra moments should be spent with Olympia,' she continued.
'I've cried over Olympia so many times that I've lost count. I cried when I stopped breastfeeding. I sat with Olympia in my arms, I talked to her, we prayed about it, and I told her, 'Mommy has to do this.' I cried when I missed Olympia's first steps because I was in training.'
