3 victims of the shooting at Michigan State University have been named

Students Brian Fraser of Grosse Pointe and Alexandria Verner of Clawson were two of the three victims of the mass shooting at Michigan State University on Monday night who were named by police on Tuesday. Tuesday, the third victim was named Arielle Anderson from Harper Woods by family members.

Grosse Pointe Superintendent Jon Dean described the event as “simply a terrible, unspeakable tragedy that is hurting the Michigan State community, impacting the Grosse Pointe community, and it’s just, it’s horrific.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, MSU police reported that five victims of the gunshot at Berkey Hall were still being treated in a hospital in severe condition.

About those who passed away, we know the following.

Aspires to become a pediatrician, Arielle Anderson

From her house, where a portion of Anderson’s huge family gathered, April Davis, Anderson’s maternal grandmother, described the 19-year-old sophomore at MSU as a smart, admirable, and modest young woman. She wanted to work as a pediatrician.

She is “extremely family-oriented,” according to Davis, and “kind, loving, caring, compassionate, driven.” Anderson had their room in Davis’ house and spent Saturday night with her grandma.

When Davis’ daughter contacted to notify her about the shooting early on Tuesday morning, Davis learned about it.

Anderson was devoted to Davis’ daughter, who has special needs and is a graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School.

Davis stated, “I spoke with her yesterday on FaceTime.

An aunt, Kimella Spivey, claimed Anderson was considerate and helpful. She participated in extracurricular activities including volunteering with seniors.

“This is incredible. When will it end? Really? I mean, they happen one right after the other. For so many years, this school has been secure, according to Spivey.

“Alexandria Verner was the epitome of kindness”

According to a statement from the Clawson High School district, Verner was a junior who will graduate from high school in 2020.

In a letter to the parents of the students at Clawson Public School, Superintendent Billy Shellenbarger stated that “Alex was and is tremendously loved by everyone.” She demonstrated kindness every day of her life and was a fantastic student, athlete, leader, and role model.

“If you knew her, you loved her, and we will always be mindful of the profound influence she had on all of us.”

At Verner’s aunt and uncle’s house, a woman who answered the phone declined to comment.

Shell stated that Verner leaves behind a mother, father, brother, and sister.

A bright spot in the family is Brian Fraser

According to the police and his Facebook page, Fraser was a graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School and a sophomore at MSU.

Tuesday afternoon saw the start of loving ones placing gifts at the Fraser family’s door.

The untimely loss was still being processed by his family.

The name of Brian Fraser should not be forgotten, according to Micaela Fraser, Brian’s sister, who stated on Tuesday that their family isn’t prepared to talk. She claimed that he was a beacon in their life.

She inquired about the existence of the reporter’s sister from the Detroit- the associated press.

Yes, an elder brother, the reporter said.

She said, “Tell him you love him.”

The shooter

After his mother died two years ago, the gunman who, according to police, shot three students to death and five others on the Michigan State University campus, become “evil and hateful” and withdrew from society, according to an interview his father gave on Tuesday.

According to his father, Michael McRae, 43-year-old Anthony McRae had a hard time coping with the loss of his mother, Linda McRae, and his manner and view on life “shifted” after she passed away on September 13, 2020, from a stroke.

A mama’s boy, he said. He adored his mother. They were confined. His mother resembled his sister “stated Michael McRae. “Everything occurred so quickly.”

After her unexpected death, the younger McRae stopped his work loading refrigerators into delivery trucks at a warehouse, according to his father, and spent the entire day playing video games in his room.

He was mourning his mother. He was unable to let it go. He became increasingly bitter,” Michael McRae said. “After his mother passed away, he suddenly become wicked and cruel. He no longer gave a damn about anything.

Michael McRae, who was married to Linda for 45 years, claimed that he made an effort to get his son to fill out job applications, seek counseling, and go to church with him.

I said, “Talk to Daddy. Please let me know if you have any questions. I’ll get you help if you need it, the father said. “I’m OK, Dad, I don’t need help,” he declared.

Michael McRae declared himself to be a “man of God,” claimed to read the Bible every day, and made an effort to be a good father to Anthony McRae and his two other kids.

Don’t get me wrong, he was a good child, he remarked. However, you never know what your child will do once they leave the house.

Tuesday morning’s news conference featured Anthony McRae, who was named by police as the shooter’s suspect.

The number of mass shootings has gone up significantly in recent years

Yes, unfortunately, there have been a growing number of school and campus shootings in the United States in recent years. These tragic incidents have led to increased concern about school safety and gun control in the country.

There have been several high-profile school shootings in the past few years, including 33 people who perished in a shooting at Virginia Tech in 2007. The 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, resulted in 17 deaths, and the 2019 shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California, resulted in three deaths.

The causes of these shootings are complex, and there is no single solution to prevent them from happening. Some argue that tighter gun control laws are needed to prevent people who are at risk of committing violence from obtaining firearms. Others argue that better mental health care and more effective measures to identify and intervene with at-risk individuals could help prevent such incidents.

Regardless of the solution, it is clear that the issue of school and campus shootings is a serious one that requires careful attention and action. It is important for individuals, communities, and policymakers to work together to find effective solutions to this problem.

The issue of school and campus shootings is a complex one that is influenced by a variety of factors, including access to firearms, mental health issues, social isolation, and a culture of violence. In recent years, there have been efforts to address these factors through a range of policies and programs.

Some states and cities have passed stricter gun control laws to limit access to firearms, particularly for individuals who may be at risk of committing violence. These laws may include background checks, waiting periods, and restrictions on the types of firearms that can be purchased.

Additionally, some schools and universities have implemented measures to increase safety and security, such as the use of metal detectors, security cameras, and active shooter drills. There has also been a growing emphasis on mental health resources and support for students, including counseling services and programs to address social isolation and other risk factors.

Despite these efforts, school, and campus shootings continue to occur, and it is clear that more needs to be done to address this issue. It is important for individuals, communities, and policymakers to work together to find effective solutions that prioritize safety and prevent future tragedies.
