Jamie Lee Curtis receives the first nomination among the 11 nominees for “Everything Everywhere” at the 2023 Academy Awards.

In this world, the Oscars truly enjoy “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.” We don’t know how it
works elsewhere in the multiverse.
When the nominations for the 95th Academy Awards were revealed on Tuesday morning, the
genre-defying sci-fi sensation was in charge. The movie won 11 awards, including best
picture and script. Michelle Yeoh, who starred in the movie, was nominated for best actress;
Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu, and Ke Huy Quan, who played the Cinderella character, all
received a nomination for supporting actor.
The semi-autobiographical “The Fabelmans,” directed by Steven Spielberg, the dark comedy
“The Banshees of Inisherin,” the blockbuster sequel “Top Gun: Maverick,” the musical biopic
“Elvis,” and a German version of the 1930 best picture nominee are all competing for the night’s
top honor. “All Quiet on the Western Front,” “Triangle of Sadness,” “Tár,” “Women Talking,” and
the extraterrestrial extravaganza “Avatar: The Way of Water” is an example of noteworthy
films.
At its presentation on March 12 (live on ABC), which will be presented for the third time by
Jimmy Kimmel, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences chose a wide range of films
and actors to be honored:
â—Ź Yeoh and Cate Blanchett, both first-time nominees, secured spots in the competition for
best actress.
â—Ź First-time nominees for the best actor include Bill Nighy, Colin Farrell, Austin Butler, and
Paul Mescal.
â—Ź Favorites for the awards season Quan and Angela Bassett are both nominated for
Oscars.
Blanchett (“Tár”) and Yeoh (“Everything, Everywhere”) are the front-runners in the best actress
category, competing against Ana de Armas (“Blonde”), Michelle Williams (“The Fabelmans”),
and surprise candidate Andrea Riseborough (“To Leslie”).
Fraser (“The Whale”), Butler (“Elvis”), Farrell (“Banshees”), Bill Nighy (“Living”), and Paul
Mescal is among the contenders for best actor, all of whom are first-time Oscar candidates
(“Aftersun”).
The “Banshees” co-stars Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan, Judd Hirsch (“The
Fabelmans”), and Brian Tyree Henry, as well as Quan, whose comeback story with “Everything,
Everywhere” has been a highlight of awards season, and were all nominated for a best-supporting
actor award (“Causeway”).
Along with “Everything, Everywhere” co-stars Curtis and Stephanie Hsu, Kerry Condon from
“Banshees,” and Hong Chau, Bassett (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”), Bassett received
her first Oscar nomination since 1994 in the category of supporting actress (“The Whale”).
